Join an established business and make the workshop your own! This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Marine Mechanic to step into a senior position, mentor an apprentice, and take ownership of workshop operations while working on custom boat builds, servicing, and repairs.
We are seeking a trade-qualified Marine Mechanic to join a well-established marine business in Nowra. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects, from servicing and repairs through to custom vessel builds, while playing a key role in the ongoing development of an apprentice.
About the Role
Reporting directly to management, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of workmanship while supporting the day-to-day operation of the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair marine engines and associated systems
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults
- Work on custom boat builds and vessel fit-outs
- Provide training, mentoring and support to an existing apprentice
- Assist with workshop planning and daily operations
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Trade qualification as a Marine Mechanic
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a fully qualified tradesperson
- Current Driver's Licence
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
- Reliable, professional and committed to quality workmanship
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Highly Regarded
- Forklift Licence
- Experience with outboard motors and marine systems
- Exposure to custom boat construction or aluminium vessel builds
