Site Team Leader / Excavator Operator

Civil Construction | Sydney, Wollongong & Regional Projects

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Team Leader / Excavator Operator to lead noise barrier wall construction projects across Greater Sydney, Wollongong and regional NSW.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will supervise a small crew of 3–5 workers while actively participating in construction activities. You will take responsibility for site operations, safety, quality, productivity and client communication when management is offsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise onsite construction activities
  • Operate excavators, including auger drilling where required
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings and RL levels
  • Set out works from survey control points
  • Install steel posts, concrete pier foundations and noise wall panels
  • Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries and site resources
  • Conduct pre-starts, inductions and daily reporting
  • Maintain WHS, environmental and quality standards
  • Liaise with Project Managers, clients and other stakeholders

About You

  • Civil construction, structural landscaping or construction experience
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Excavator operating experience essential
  • Current excavator operator ticket/ticketed plant competency required
  • Concreting experience required
  • Ability to read plans and understand levels/set-out
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Reliable, safety-focused and able to work independently

Desirable

  • Auger drilling or piling experience
  • Trade qualification
  • Truck licence
