Stainless Steel Fabricator / TIG Welder

Wollongong Location

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Stainless Steel Tradesperson with strong TIG welding and finishing capability to join a workshop built on trust, autonomy, and full project ownership.

This is not a production-line role. It is a hands-on, end-to-end fabrication position where you will take ownership of jobs from initial drawings through to final completion.

You’ll work in a workshop that values independence, accountability, and craftsmanship, with minimal supervision and a strong expectation of full project ownership.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing jobs end-to-end, including reading and working from technical drawings, preparing materials, and completing full fabrication through to final installation.

Core duties include:

  • Stainless steel fabrication including TIG welding, brake press work, and assembly
  • Finishing work such as grinding, polishing, and quality control to a high standard
  • Occasional on-site installation and client interaction

What the Role Looks Like

This role suits a tradesperson who operates best with ownership. You will run assigned projects independently within agreed timelines, taking responsibility for both execution and final quality. The workshop is built on trust in skilled tradespeople to deliver without micromanagement, with a strong focus on outcomes rather than task completion.

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years’ stainless steel fabrication experience (commercial kitchen/bar preferred)
  • Strong TIG welding and stainless finishing capability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • End-to-end fabrication experience (not just welding)
  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent)
  • NSW White Card

What We Offer

This is a stable, ongoing full-time role within a workshop culture built on independence, trust, and accountability. You will take full ownership of varied, high-quality fabrication projects with no repetitive production-line work, supported by an experienced and skilled team in a well-established Wollongong workshop.

We are also open to hearing your salary expectations as part of your application.
