WHS Officer – Waste Operations

Pay Rate: Starting at $40/hour (dependent on skills and experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive WHS Officer to oversee workplace health and safety across multiple waste depot sites. You will play a key role in ensuring operational teams work safely, hazards are managed, and compliance with legislation is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce workplace health and safety practices across depot operations.

• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards.

• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, providing corrective actions.

• Support the development, implementation, and review of WHS policies and procedures.

• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing staff training.

• Liaise with regulators, auditors, and operational managers regarding compliance and safety matters.

• Maintain WHS records, reports, and documentation accurately.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a WHS officer or similar safety role, ideally in industrial, waste, or operational environments.

• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements.

• Excellent observational, communication, and reporting skills.

• Ability to engage confidently with operational teams and management.

• Competent in MS Office and WHS management systems.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) required.

• Current First Aid Certificate desirable.
