Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a trade background to lead the workshop team. This role combines hands-on knowledge of fabrication and welding processes with the ability to plan, coordinate, and manage production workflows. You will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensure projects are delivered to specification, and maintain a safe, efficient, and productive workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet project timelines.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor workshop staff, including welders, fabricators, and apprentices.
- Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with safety and workplace procedures.
- Allocate resources, materials, and equipment to optimise workshop efficiency.
- Maintain workshop tools, machinery, and equipment in proper working condition.
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practice procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Trade qualification in welding, fabrication, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in a workshop management or production supervisory role.
- Strong ability to draw, read, interpret, and work from technical drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and workshop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
