Our client is a leading local government organisation that provides essential services to the community, focusing on sustainability, waste management, and customer service. They are dedicated to maintaining high operational standards and offering a safe, environmentally friendly service to all residents.

They are now seeking an organised and proficient Weighbridge Assistant to join their Waste Services team on the South Coast. In this role, you will work 2-4 days per week on a rotating roster, ensuring the daily operation of the weighbridge system, processing transactions, and ensuring accurate data entry while providing excellent customer service. This is a computer-based role that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.



As a Weighbridge Assistant, your role will include:

  • Operating the weighbridge system to record vehicle weights and process waste disposal transactions
  • Accurately entering data into the system and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Issuing dockets, receipts, and relevant documentation to customers
  • Providing clear and friendly customer service, assisting visitors with inquiries, and directing them as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with council regulations and waste management policies
  • Monitoring incoming and outgoing loads to prevent contamination and ensure correct disposal procedures are followed
  • Liaising with drivers, contractors, and council staff to facilitate smooth operations
  • Identifying and reporting any discrepancies or issues with waste disposal
  • Assisting with the transfer area, weighbridge/gatehouse, buy-back centre, and garden organics services as required



To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role, preferably in a weighbridge, waste management, or logistics environment
  • Strong computer skills, with experience in data entry and using transaction-based software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing records
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • A proactive attitude towards compliance, safety, and operational efficiency
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
