Boilermakers, Mechanical Fitter Welders, and Scaffolders, located at Skardon River, Queensland.

The positions are casual and focus on maintenance and remediation work for a pontoon at the Bauxite Hills Mine, about 95 km north of Weipa, in Cape York.

Our client operates the Bauxite Hills Mine at Skardon River, located approximately 95 km north of Weipa in Cape York, North Queensland. This single mine encompasses both the Bauxite Hills and Skardon River tenements and involves mining, hauling, screening, barging, and transhipping materials into large ocean-going vessels about 10 nautical miles offshore, with an annual capacity of approximately 7 million tonnes.

Key details include:

• Job Type: Casual Shutdown Assignment
• Location: Skardon River, Queensland, 95 km north of Weipa.
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts, 6am–6pm, on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster.
• Duration: Starting from 8 January - Anticipated until mid-March.
• Job Tasks: These include inspecting and removing pontoon flooring, repairing and replacing structural components, applying marine-grade coatings, reinstallation of flooring, and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
• Benefits: Flights, accommodation, meals, and transport to and from the camp are provided
• Required Qualifications:
• Relevant trade qualifications in Boiler making, Mechanical Fitting, Welding, or Intermediate Scaffolding.
• A white card (not essential).
• Pre-employment mining medical (advantageous if already completed).
• Confined space and gas testing experience (advantageous).
• Prior shutdown or heavy industry maintenance experience.
• Commitment to safety and the ability to meet project deadlines.
