Job Title: Technical Construction Worker

Location: Sydney, NSW (Starting in North Sydney, expanding across the region)
Employment Type: Full-time, ongoing project

On Line Recruitment is hiring skilled and motivated people to join a specialized commercial diving and maintenance team. Our client is embarking on a significant project to upgrade around 650 sewage pumping stations across Sydney, ensuring essential infrastructure is maintained for safe and efficient waste and greywater management. This role offers exciting challenges and room for career advancement through hands-on experience and paid training.

About the Role:

This is a high-risk, non-entry-level role ideal for those who thrive on complex tasks, demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, and are committed to maintaining a safe work environment. Starting with general hand duties, you’ll be supporting skilled commercial divers and industry professionals in maintaining and upgrading sewage pumping stations. Your responsibilities and expertise will grow as you gain experience, with a pathway to specialise in tasks like metal work, rigging, and team leadership/training.

The Ideal candidate will have a background in Civil, recreational diving, shutdown work, maintenance work or similar fields. You will be high performer or subject matter expert within your chosen industry. If you have a history of role progression, dedication to continued training, have worked in safety dense procedural environments or have contributed to the technical implementation of workplace procedures, you are likely highly suited to this role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general hand duties such as carrying tools, equipment and work kits, assisting with site setup and cleanup, and waste removal.
  • Support skilled team members in the installation and replacement of equipment and materials.
  • Prepare work kits, maintain tools and safety gear, and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Follow directions from supervisors, divers, and skilled workers to maintain smooth operations.
  • Engage in paid training to develop your skills in specialized tasks including pipe fitting, metal work, and working in confined spaces.

Requirements:

  • Essential: White Card, experience in a skilled labour role with technical aptitude and commitment to safety.
  • Advantageous: Confined Space and Working at Heights Certificates, rigging ticket or relevant experience, welding skills.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to handle physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, and extended standing.
  • Health Requirements: Commitment to maintaining Hepatitis A, B, and Tetanus vaccinations.
  • Mindset: Strong team player, proactive, and eager to learn in high-risk environments with potential exposure to gases, risk of flood, confined spaces, and heights.
